ADAPTIVE SPORTS / SPORT FOR ALL
Thanks to everyone who joined us for a fun and engaging educational session
about adaptive sports and how to include athletes of all abilities in sports and recreation.

Location: 800 Sharon Dr Suite A, Westlake, OH 44145 (Youth Challenge)
Program Overview: Youth, parents and educators rotated through interactive learning stations, led by local adaptive and inclusive sports and recreation organizations.
Activities included wheelchair basketball, cardio drumming, an obstacle course, and more!
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
This Cleveland Power of Sport Summit Series program encouraged participating youth, parents, and educators to:
- Learn about disability awareness, including different kinds of disabilities, how disabilities do or do not impact a person’s life, common misconceptions about disabilities, and how to appropriately talk about disabilities
- Join demonstrations and hands-on activities to better understand how sports and recreation can be adapted so everyone can participate
- Engage with and learn from local athletes with disabilities
- Reflect on their experience at the Cleveland Power of Sport Summit Series and determine how they can enact positive change in their communities
COMMUNITY PARTNERS
AUDIENCES
There was something for everyone at the Adaptive Sports / Sport For All program.
Youth in grades 5-12 heard diverse perspectives and learned how to include and support peers of all abilities in sport and recreation.
Parents learned about the power of sport and how it can shape the next generation and empower children.
Educators learned how they shape young minds toward a future that is fair for all and the role sports play in this work.
